Whole pregnancy is a set of approximately 40 weeks. First trimester of pregnancy is of 13 weeks and each week is new for the pregnant woman. Pregnant woman faces both emotional and physical changes during the first trimester pregnancy. A proper knowledge about the week by week changes during first trimester is very important. Here is the list of happenings during the first trimester pregnancy week by week.

Week 1: This period is the starting period of your menstrual cycles, so no conception during this period.

Week 2: Now uterus of the mother starts developing blood supply for the preparation of embryo.

Week 3: Actually this is the starting week of pregnancy where the embryo has finally taken shape with the fusion of egg and sperm. There may be some light spotting during this week of pregnancy. The pregnancy symptoms start from this week.

Week 4: Uterus is the place for this fused egg. During fourth week of pregnancy, fused eggs continuously divide for the formation of tissues inside the uterus. This is for both the baby and the mom. This is the time when mother may feel fatigue and tenderness in her breasts.

Week 5: There is the formation of nerves, brain, spinal cord, etc, by the rudimentary cell during 5th week. Similarly, heart, blood vessels, muscles, bones and other tissues are formed by different-different cells. So, your baby which is a bunch of cell till now starts to develop their body. You may feel nausea during this week and this is the time to confirm your pregnancy with the help of home pregnancy tests kit.

Week 6: pumping of blood by heart having only cells starts during 5th week with the development of eyes and ears. The embryo’s length is just an inch now. Strong nausea vomiting tendencies are there in 6th week. Also this is the time to take special care as most of the miscarriages take place during this period of pregnancy. So do not ignore any spotting and stomachs cramps and immediately consult your doctor.

Week 7: Brain is developing. Eyes, nose, arms and legs are under formation during 7th week. In twin pregnancies there may be rapid weight gain, extreme tiredness, severe morning sickness and water retention in limbs. Also there may be weight gain or weight loss in single pregnancy during this week of pregnancy.

Week 8: It is the time to have the first ultrasound to know about your baby inside you who have now clear heart beat. Some pregnant woman may feel temporary problems like acne and rashes.

Week 9: Development of bones and cartilage with the feet and hands of the fetus is the main development during 9th week of pregnancy. Pregnant woman may feel indigestion problem with gas during this period.

Week 10: Now the fetus has taken shape of actual little baby in the same look as you will see her/him after the birth.

Week 11: A rapid development of baby can be noticed during 11th week of pregnancy.

Week 12: Now no more nausea but one may experience headache problem in this week. During 12th week, baby’s sexual organs start developing. Also fetus limbs are developed fully till 12th week of pregnancy.

Week 13: Now the baby has her/his own digestive system. Also the early symptoms of pregnancy are gone so it’s time to enjoy.
