The second trimester of pregnancy: time to relax
This is the time to go out and enjoy. You feel energetic and relaxed. What you can do during second trimester of pregnancy is that just read more and utilize your valuable time if you are at home. Second trimester of pregnancy means week 14 to week 26. You can notice certain changes during this stage of pregnancy. These changes are enlarged breasts which now secrete colostrum or milk, more blood is pumped by the heart of pregnant woman and their uterus is now above pubic bone. Also the size of heart is slightly increased than it is before conception.
You can also notice some changes in the mother with two pregnancies. Twin pregnancy means rapid weight gain. There is larger belly and a clear two heartbeats. There is more rapid development in the baby’s body during this period. Baby has now more defined chins, nose and forehead. So, a well developed face of the baby is the main feature of second trimester of pregnancy. The length of baby is now around 3 inches with unique fingerprints and facial muscles. This is the time of development of scalp muscles. Also the whole body is covered with fine hairs.
Along with these changes there are some problems connected with the second trimester of pregnancy. It is difficult for the pregnant woman to sleep on her back. She can also not sleep on her stomach as your stomach is much bigger than before. Doctor gives advice to pregnant ladies to sleep on her side with the help of pillows. Due to the pressed ligaments, backaches occur. Diabetes is the common problem of second trimester so a regular check up is very important.
