Pregnancy Types
Other than normal pregnancy with single fetus, pregnancy types can be as follows:
Ectopic pregnancy:
Ectopic pregnancy also referred as tubal pregnancy. In the process of pregnancy, the egg is fertilized in the fallopian tube of the mother and the fertilized egg also called zygote comes down to uterus to get implanted there; but during the ectopic pregnancy which is an abnormal condition, the implantation of the fertilized egg takes place at places other than the uterus, most commonly in the fallopian tube of the mother hence referred as tubal pregnancy. This condition could be fatal to mother as well as fetus. This condition, if not detected in time, rupture of maternal organ may take place posing life threat to her and loss of fetus as well. Symptoms of ectopic pregnancy show up only when pregnancy attains six weeks duration. Early detection of this condition can result in possible and adequate treatment which can save the pregnancy by the use of medications and by performing surgery.Lupus pregnancy:
This pregnancy type may pose serious problems. The would-be mom can have lupus problems prior to the pregnancy or may develop it during pregnancy. If the would-be mom is having lupus problems prior to the pregnancy, she should consult the gynecologist and rheumatologist for the same to have safe pregnancy at proper time when the condition is under control i.e. she should conceive only when her gynecologist and rheumatologist suggest her to go for it. Approximately 70% of women having this type of pregnancy undergo miscarriage or suffer stillbirth, the remaining 30% of women with this pregnancy type will give birth to premature babies. This pregnancy type results when mother has certain type of immune system problem. This pregnancy type can result in blood clotting problems posing risk to both mother and baby. Early detection of the condition and prompt medical care under rheumatologist and gynecologist can result in successful pregnancy in spite of being a lupus pregnancy.Twin pregnancies and multiple pregnancies: These pregnancy types are risky. These pregnancy types can pose complications for the babies as well as the mom. Babies can be underdeveloped as the normal pregnancy is meant for only one fetus, also the mother’s system is overloaded and she could develop a number of undesirable conditions. The risk increases with the increase in the number of fetus inside the womb. These pregnancy types, although risky, many women just go through it normally. The important point to consider during these pregnancy types is to remain under medical supervision and to take good care of one’s health to come out of it normally.
